The Upminster dance festival is expanding this year with a new campsite and an exclusive extra day of music to keep the campers happy. Their usual residence of Airfield Of Dreams at Damyn’s Hall will be making extra room for campers a short walk from the main event in the hope to improve the We Are FSTVL experience. The event seems to have spared no expense by adding in-camp entertainment and events including a new cinema and Sports Day.
Along with the fun, the We Are Campsite will have some restrictions on what campers can bring. The website states that they will confiscate food and drink of any description. They encourage campers to purchase drinks and amenities from a supermarket installed in the campsite’s very own village. Food vendors will be available to campers and are said to suit a range of budgets. As in previous years, the event will be working on a drinks token system alongside free water points.
We Are FSTVL are of course following suit of many camping festivals by including luxury VIP Camping too. A separate VIP village has been designed to give a full immersive experience. The world of the VIP will be much different to that of the average campers- queue jumps, exclusive stages and extra facilities are all bonus features that everyone won’t have access to. This will be a pre-pitched tent only zone and offered for the price of £244.50. The glamping facilities have been supplied by the likes of ‘Tenthouse’ suites and ‘Airstreamers’.
The event itself has also been given a bit of an expansion with a new 150ft stage dubbed “The Aerodrome”. The new stage will be decorated with 3000ft of LED and made to sparkle with 1500 fireworks. We Are FSTVL now has a capacity of 50,000 which is double the size of last year’s. Now, 225 artists and 20 bespoke stages will be showcasing performances backed by big names like Space Ibiza, Circoloco, Jamie Jones’ Paradise and Defected’s Glitterbox.
For the expansion, Ibizaice, Bumble, Fan Inc, Bowens, Amazon Tickets, Ticketweb, Skiddle, Streetteam, See, C2C, Festicket, National Express, Eventbrite, Kopparberg, Deperados, Relentless and KISS radio are all sponsors of the festival.
It’s no wonder that We Are FSTVL have become so ambitious. In the past, the festival has received a number of awards including Best New Festival (Festival Awards UK 2013), Best Medium Sized Festival (Festival Awards UK 2014), Best Dance Festival (UK Festival Awards 2016 and Best Of British DJ 2015) and even Best International Festival (DJ Awards Ibiza 2015).
With a range of festival pre-parties and residencies across London, and a selection of already sold out tickets, the event seems like it may be on its way to filling its capacity. We Are FSTVL is growing at a rapid pace and seems to have no plans for slowing down.
