De Boer’s huge pink galaxy Pink Galaxy was the central structure for MoonWalk London, the annual fundraising event for breast cancer charity, Walk the Walk which celebrated its 20th anniversary this May.
MoonWalkers power-walked a sponsored full or half marathon wearing their trademark, highly decorated bras to raise awareness and vital funds for breast cancer research and treatment. De Boer’s bespoke ‘circus’ tent structure delivers more than 13,000 sqm of space on Clapham Common, where the challenge starts and finishes.
Nina Barough CBE, founder and chief executive of Walk the Walk comments: “Every year it is just thrilling to see the sheer scale and size of the magnificent Pink Galaxy rising out of Clapham Common. Everybody loves this structure and as our theme this year was of course The Roaring Twenties, it was the perfect ‘Pink Palace’ for all our MoonWalkers wearing their glorious decorated bras, to gather and unite against breast cancer. Walk the Walk has worked with De Boer for so many years and have a wonderful working relationship. The team’s professionalism is exceptional and a great support in organising an event of this scale.”
De Boer also supplied ancillary structures with the company’s Alu Halls providing kitchen, hospital, volunteer facilities and baggage areas, whilst its Acropolis tents were utilised by guests and members of the press and Pyramid tents housed the WalkWear and guest storage and the helpdesk area was situated in a Cocktail tent.
Peter Spruce, Managing Director at De Boer, commented: “Celebrating MoonWalk London’s 20th anniversary was very special, and every year we feel honoured to help deliver an event which has such a worthy cause. Our team worked exceptionally well, building the whole site in just six days, and dismantling it in four days.”
