De Boer’s huge Jumbo Hall provided over 1800 square metres for this year’s MoonWalk Scotland. This is the temporary structure specialist’s twelfth consecutive year supporting the event and Walk the Walk, organiser and creators behind the MoonWalk Challenges.
MoonWalk Scotland’s theme this year was ‘jungle safari’ with Moonwalkers donning Jane, Tarzan and Indiana Jones inspired bras and outfits. Fundraisers set off from the party hub in Holyrood Park and power-walked double, full, half or quarter marathons.
Nina Barough CBE, Founder and Chief Executive of Walk the Walk, said: “De Boer’s Jumbo was the perfect venue to kick-off and end the MoonWalk Scotland marathon. Walk the Walk has worked with De Boer for many years and I always find their professionalism exceptional. Just a few weeks ago, De Boer provided its magnificent Pink Galaxy structure for the 11th year at MoonWalk London.
“So far this year the two MoonWalks have raised over £5 million with funds still expected. From this, grants will be made to support research into secondary breast cancers and for those living with cancer.”
The site in Holyrood Park was ready in just four days and alongside its expansive 40m x 45m Jumbo, De Boer also supplied ancillary structures including Pyramid and Acropolis tents to house the helpdesk; hospital; green room; volunteer facilities; guest and press facilities; and baggage.
Peter Spruce, Managing Director at De Boer, commented: “We love working with Walk the Walk helping to organise the MoonWalks in London and Scotland each year. The MoonWalks are such important charitable events and help to raise vital funds for the largest, grant-making breast cancer charity in the UK.”
