Bunkabin is celebrating its 15th year of working with Glastonbury Festival. The family-run business has supplied sleeping accommodation to every instalment of the world-famous festival since 2000, pausing only for the festival’s fallow years in 2001, 2006 and 2012.
Bunkabin provides a significant number of sleeper units to the festival each year. These units are used as sleeping accommodation by a range of people, including festival management, staff and support services, such as the BBC and power generator company Aggreko.
The portable units aim to provide a secure and pleasant living and sleeping environment for those working the event. Festival personnel can be onsite for a number of weeks, setting up and deconstructing their equipment and apparatus, and portable cabins are viewed as a comfortable, practical alternative to tents for those staying longer than the festival’s duration.
Luke Rothwell, director at Bunkabin, said: “It’s a real honour to have worked with such a huge, internationally-renowned festival for 15 years. Glastonbury requires an army of workers to ensure everything goes to plan, and we’re proud that Bunkabin plays an important role in that. We know that working a festival can be extremely tiring and our portable accommodation provides the perfect setting for a good night’s sleep.”
All of the Bunkabin units are en suite and include full-sized beds, thermostatic heating and heated towel rails. They provide a comfortable environment to ensure staff are refreshed and ready for the work ahead, and do not have to travel into the festival site each day.
Luke adds: “Everyone at Glastonbury is there to have a good time, and we think this should extend to the workers too. Enjoying a good night’s sleep means you are less likely to be stressed; and when the workers are happy, the artists and – importantly – the festival goers are more likely to be happy. Bunkabin is a true pioneer in on-site sleeper accommodation and we really enjoy working with a pioneering festival such as Glastonbury. We hope the relationship continues for many years to come.”
Glastonbury Festival took place from June 21st-25th 2017 at Worthy Farm near Pilton, Somerset with headline Radiohead, Foo Fighters and Ed Sheeran wowing festival goers and a global TV audience.
